During a ceremony held last night in Iran University of Medical Sciences in which an agreement was signed between the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education and Ministry of Public Health Afghanistan, Dr. Seyed Hassan Ghazizadeh Hashemi said that the precious experiences of Islamic Republic of Iran in Health arena could be bestowed on Afghanistan.
Expressing his satisfaction with the high votes the Minister of Public health gained in Afghanistan parliament, he said that the Minister of Public Health in Afghanistan is determined to improve the health care and people’s access to medication.
The minister of health also said, "we hope that we can set up a working group comprised of World Health Organization (WHO), Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan within the framework of G5 cooperation and the mutual cooperation between Iranian Health Ministry and Ministry of Public Health Afghanistan on the communicable diseases which is one of the serious problems."
Stressing the need for Iranian private sector presence in Afghanistan, he requested the private sector to take the national interests into account in addition to the economic interests and therefore continue to invest in Afghanistan which would be affordable due to the country’s transition period.
The minister of health also announced that a joint committee will be set up to prevent the communicable diseases from entering Iran through borders adding that those who are seeking to enter Iran need to go through the process of quarantine and immunization in Afghanistan territory so that we can control the diseases including tuberculosis, cholera and polio.
